In the making

Once you say yes, the design leaves the screen and goes to the bench. Every ornament is cut, painted, fired and leaded by hand, one at a time, and arrives in 18–25 days.

  1. Hands scoring a small piece of ruby glass with a glass cutter on the paper pattern of a round holly ornament
    01

    We cut the glass

Ruby, amber and emerald sheet glass, scored and broken by hand along the pattern of your ornament, piece by piece.

  2. A fine brush painting a beagle’s face onto the small pale-green centre glass of the ornament on a light box
    02

    We paint your dog

The portrait from your design is painted onto the centre glass with a fine brush, and the name is lettered on the ribbon.

  3. A gloved hand sliding the painted portrait and ribbon pieces into a glowing glass kiln
    03

    We fire it

Into the kiln at 1,250°F, so the paint fuses into the glass. It will never fade, chip or rub off.

  4. A soldering iron running along the lead lines of the small round holly ornament with the beagle portrait in the middle
    04

    We lead and solder it

Copper foil, solder and a brass chain hold it together. One of us checks it against your design before it is wrapped.

  • Tedooo draws it

Your photo, or your words, comes back as your dog painted into our holly glass on the tree, from Tedooo’s design technology, in about a minute. Not quite them? Create it again, as often as you like, free.

  • We make it

A machine has never touched the glass. Two of us cut every piece from sheet glass, paint and kiln-fire the portrait, lead and solder it, letter the name, and check it against your design before it ships.

  • The photograph stays yours

It is used to paint your ornament and nothing else: not resold, not published, not used to train anything. It is deleted when your order closes.

Before you upload

If yours is not here, write to us. A person answers, usually within the day, and usually with more detail than you wanted.

Ask us something
What makes a good photo to upload?

One dog, roughly facing the camera, with their eyes visible. Daylight helps and it does not need to be sharp: most of what we work from is a phone photo of a dog on a sofa. What we cannot work from is a dog facing away, or more than two dogs in one small round.

How big is it?

Small, like a glass bauble: 4 in (10 cm) across, on a brass chain, the same size as every ornament we make.

Is it plastic or glass?

Glass. Ruby, amber and emerald sheet glass cut by hand and joined with lead came and solder, with the portrait and the name painted in glass enamel and fired in our kiln, so they never fade. It is not a print, a sticker or acrylic.

When do I pay?

Only when you add it to your bag and check out. Creating your ornament, and creating it again, is free, and nothing is cut until you have seen it and said yes.

Will it arrive before Christmas?

Order by November 30 for delivery before Christmas. Every ornament is made to order, and arrives in 18–25 days from the day you order.
